Sea to Summit eVent Compression + eVac Dry Sacks
The most difficult thing about camping from your kayak is packing everything you need in your boat. When we first started out, we all bought the Seal Line plastic dry bags but we soon learned that those were the first thing to replace. Plastic sticks and doesn’t compress which makes much less room in your boat. And they are much heavier than these bags.
Thankfully, Sea to Summit gave us eVent compression and dry sacks.
What We Like:
The eVent + eVac sacks are tougher than you’d think once you feel the material. It’s slippery which makes it easier to pack into the smallest places in your kayak. And most importantly of course, it’s waterproof. The fabric is an amazing technology that pushes the air out and doesn’t allow it back in. The irony of these bags is that you’ll be able to pack more which doesn’t mean you should if you’re trying to keep your weight down.
The eVent Compression Dry Sack comes in a variety of sizes. We use the compression sack for sleeping bags mainly but it would work well for compressing your clothing as well.
The eVAC Dry Sack also comes in a variety of sizes. We use these for packing everything else. We’ve found that it’s good to have a variety of sizes to accommodate the variety of gear you’ll be packing.
The Final Word:
The sticker shock of replacing all of your plastic dry bags with these seems a bit much but in the end it’s worth it. Start with one and work your way into it. Dry bags are one of the most important pieces of gear you’ll buy so go with the best. You’ll save space and weight.
