Badfish Creek VII
Old Stage Road to County Road H
☆ ☆ ☆ ☆
As expected, this year’s inaugural trip to the Badfish (and Yahara and Rock rivers) offered up one long and delightful day of wonderful paddling on one of our favorite creeks.
June 16, 2013
This is a very recommendable level.
Old Stage Road, Cooksville, Wisconsin
County Road H, Fulton, Wisconsin
Time: Put in at 9:00a. Out at 5:00p.
Total Time: 8h
Miles Paddled: 16.25
Wildlife: Several great blue herons and a woodchuck.
What we liked:
I have written about this trip before and we have covered a lot of this water already so all I really wish to convey here is just how lovely the Badfish, in particular, is this time of year. Fragrant blossoms lined the shore for much of the trip, which was heady and delightful. The water levels were pretty much perfect.
What we didn’t like:
By no means the fault of anything paddle-related but there was a raccoon carcass on the other side of the road at the take-out and believe you me, in the high heat of mid-July and the wind just right, it was ripe. Like, hurry up lashing the boats to the roof and let’s get outta here NOW!
If we did this trip again:
The Badfish is an annual destination.

11.5 miles. A nice pedal (on bike) with no real hills to contend with but it can get windy.
